The presidency distributed an announcement this Tuesday, according to which the book “Quran - with references from the Bible; A Contemporary Meaning ”with American authors Safi Kaskasi and David Hungerford.
The inauguration of this book comes a few days after the Austrian newspaper "Kronen Zeitung" published an article describing President Ilir Meta as 'deeply corrupt' and raising doubts about the financial sources of lobbying in the US.
What is the connection between the book and the authors of this book and the article in the Austrian newspaper? It's easy. Safi Kaskasi is one of the biggest lobbyists for the White House and Congress in the US.
His arrival in Albania during this period raises inherent doubts that he did not travel thousands of miles just to inaugurate the translation of a book. Meta and Kryemadhi met him, at least publicly, in July last year, during a private visit to the US.
Neither the President nor the chairwoman of the SMI made this meeting public, but Safi Kaskasi himself published it on Facebook.
"My wife and I were visited this morning by the President of Albania, His Excellency Ilir Meta and his wife Monika Kryemadhi. We gave them a copy of my book The Qur'an with References in the Bible. The First Lady of Albania loved the book and committed to translating it into Albanian with a group of scholars. We were invited to visit them in Albania to celebrate the translation of the book into Albanian ", writes Kaskas.
Who is Safi Kaskas?
According to the CV available online, Safi Kaskas is a Lebanese-American and well-known lobbyist operating in the US and Saudi Arabia. Kaskas has a rich lobbying activity in Washington and is considered one of the "most beloved" people there.
Safi Kaskas describes himself as an executive manager and political strategist with over 40 years of extensive experience in planning, leadership and business ethics, with an emphasis on strategic management in corporations and academia.
He is a co-founder of East West University in Chicago, Illinois and was elected chairman of his board of directors from 1979 to 2005. He continues to serve as a member of the University's board of directors. As the founder and president of the Edge Strategic Management Strategy, Kaskas helped many mid-level and large corporations expand their portfolios thanks to lobbying in Washington.
The lobbyist's visit was presented as an event to promote a book, but there is no doubt about Mr. Kaskas's role as a lobbyist. Meta is worried about the writing of the largest Austrian newspaper and the launch of another secret lobbying story is not ruled out, when it has been said that after leaving the mandate, Ilir Meta will be declared 'non grata' by the USA.
