Note : Arben Ahmetaj returned as the right wing of Edi Rama in government in the third term of the Socialists. But Ahmetaj's 'rebirth' in government has been rosy only in the first months.
The deputy prime minister who was entrusted with the reconstruction from the consequences of the earthquake does not seem to enjoy the support of his boss anymore. After being left out by the great searchlight of the works of the Congress (where he did not find, or was not given) a place on the podium of those who kept his word, Ahmetaj's next blow arrived from the Assembly.
Ahmetaj was not perceived as a man strongly associated with the Socialist Party, but after 2013 he was strongly associated with the Socialist government. His hand is behind some decisions and policies contested even by the majority deputies themselves. For example, the change of the VAT refund scheme for livestock in 2018.
However, the role in governance and as part of the majority in the Assembly as logic should give it a seat in Congress and Assembly. But that did not happen. Arben Ahmetaj has been left out in the two most important meetings of the Socialists within a month and as if to seal the perception that he no longer enjoys Rama's support, the absence during the special parliamentary session for the message of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenski .
The entire government cabinet was present at that session, and even Berisha and Basha came together at the same session. Ahmetaj's chair on Rama's right arm was empty.
To these is added the fact that every time there has been talk of changes in government, at least these 2-3 months all the supposed names that will leave have changed, but that of Arben Ahmetaj has remained in all lists of articles.
Rama's removal of Ahmetaj is probably related to the fact that he has become a cost to the Socialist Party, where he no longer enjoys the support of the Socialists themselves, but also for the reconstruction process.
As the person in charge of this process, Ahmetaj had stated that in April of this year there would be no trace of the earthquake in Albania. But, in Durrës, Kombinat and other areas, the traces are still very visible and Ahmetaj has already extended the deadline for the autumn of this year.
This is one side. The other side is the lack of transparency with the reconstruction funds, where in two reports, KLSh notices that even its auditors did not receive the data they had requested from the Ministry of Reconstruction.
