2.3 tons of pure cocaine have been seized by police in Peru, busting an international drug trafficking network. 4 people were put in handcuffs, including an Albanian.
Italian businessman Pasquale Bifulco , 49 years old, who belongs to the Ietto-Cua-Pipicella mafia gang, 28-year-old Albanian Kadri Cjoci (one of the leaders of the network), Luis Alberto Narbasya Huayanay , 57 years old (from whom 5 kilograms were seized ) ended up behind bars 300 grams of cocaine, two vehicles and communication equipment) as well as Elmer Cárdenas Ramírez , 56, who was confiscated a shotgun, a pistol and a revolver.
It is reported that the drugs were destined for Italy and Germany. According to local media, the drug shipments left Alto Huallaga for Lima and Tumbes in order to be transported by sea from the port of Callao to Europe under the "company-to-company export" modality.
The coordinators of the shipment were Luis Alberto Narbasta and Werlinton Sánchez García, as well as another foreigner known as Gian Marco, who were responsible for the collection, transfer, storage and preservation of the drugs.
The operation was called 'Poseidon' because it is the continuation of the one carried out in Máncora, on August 29, where Alex Soria Trujillo, Edëin Pariona Oroncoy, Manuel Garcia Sifuentes, Fredy Reyna Mori and Marco Macedo Ushiñahua, with 448 kilograms, were arrested.
The authorities are investigating whether this network is related to the Albanian mafia, which in June tried to send 2,200 kilograms of liquid cocaine to the Netherlands in canisters with asparagus.
In recent years, there has been a great involvement of Albanians in drug trafficking from Latin American countries to Europe.
Peru is one of the biggest producers of cocaine, with about 400 tons a year, according to official figures. This year, Peruvian police have seized about 35 tons of drugs.
