Citizens crossing from Albania to Kosovo through the border point of Morina have been facing long queues for days.
The tense situation in the north has influenced many emigrants who return to Kosovo to spend the holidays, choosing Albania as a transit route, bypassing Serbia. The high flow has made them wait long at customs on these days when the temperatures are extreme.
Unlike the rest of the citizens from Albania and Kosovo, immigrants are subject to checks by the Kosovo police and this has also had an effect on the extension of the waiting time.
At peak time, according to the police, within 1 minute, an average of 20 cars enter the territory of Kosovo.
In addition to checks, this year the Kurti government also restored the mandatory insurance policy for vehicles for immigrants. Even this decision to tax immigrants has increased the delays to cross this border point.
If the number of immigrants will increase in the month of August, as the Kosovo police predict, with the return of the tax and checks of immigrants, the queues are expected to be kilometers long.
