After the sensitizations, the police have started applying fines to drivers of electric scooters, who do not follow traffic rules.

According to the traffic police, this decision was taken after the increase in the involvement of this category in traffic incidents.

"Recently, statistics show that there is an increase in the trends of involvement in road events of this category. The decision was made for the Tirana Traffic Police to start applying punitive measures not only against the category of drivers, but also for other categories that are road users, electric scooters or electric scooters and vehicles that circulate on the streets of the capital".

A penalty of up to 2,000 Lek is imposed in all cases when the driver of the electric scooter violates the horizontal or vertical traffic signs.

"When it is found that an electric scooter driver does not drive in the reserved lane or does not apply the protective measure, the penalty goes from 1,000 to 2,000 Lek".

But what happens when an administrative measure is imposed on these violators of traffic rules?

"The driver of the scooter is given the opportunity to go and liquidate the value of the administrative measure and with the payment mandate he is free to circulate taking measures".

Some time ago, France and England banned the circulation of electric scooters after they were classified as dangerous on the road.
