The police of Korça have handcuffed a 35-year-old man who was transporting 21 illegal immigrants from third countries.

According to the police report, 35-year-old Delvin Drenica, residing in Durrës, was caught red-handed in the village of Vërdovë, Pogradec, while he was transporting immigrants against payments of 1000-1500 euros per person.

The operation, developed after a week-long proactive investigation, to crack down on the criminal activity of providing assistance to foreign nationals, against significant payments, for illegal border crossing.

He was transporting 21 immigrants from third countries with a van, against payments of 1000-1500 euros/person, the 35-year-old was caught red-handed and put in handcuffs.

Also, active online sites for placing sports bets were found on the mobile phone of the arrested person.

The van in which the immigrants were being transported, 2 mobile phones and a sum of money benefited from the transportation were seized.

Specialists for the Investigation of Illegal Traffics of DVP Korçë, following the work to crack down on cases of illegal transportation of immigrants, against profit, after one week of proactive investigations, in cooperation with the Police Surveillance Agency, Korçë-Elbasan region, have finalized the operation coded "Midnight 15", as a result of which the citizen was arrested in the act:

-DD, 35 years old, resident of Shkozet, Durrës.

The 35-year-old was caught red-handed by the Police, in the village of Vërdovë, Pogradec, while he was transporting 21 immigrants from third countries with a vehicle (van), against payments of 1000-1500 euros/person, with the aim of illegally crossing the border , with final destination EU countries.

Also, following the procedural actions for this case, on the mobile phone of the DD citizen, active online sites for illegal sports betting were found.

As material evidence, the van used to transport the immigrants, 2 mobile phones and a sum of money suspected to have benefited from this criminal activity were seized.

The work continues to legally prove the criminal activities in which the DD citizen may be implicated, as well as to identify and arrest his accomplices.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Korçë General Jurisdiction, for further actions.
