Mia Perry Bowick, the sister of the late actor Matthew Perry, has shared touching details about one of the most meaningful episodes of the series "Friends" for her brother. It is the episode of the seventh season, in which his character, Chandler Bing, marries Monica Geller, played by Courteney Cox.

In an interview with People magazine, Mia revealed that the scene had special meaning for the actor, who had just been released from rehab for addiction. She explained that family members knew how serious his condition was and that they had no way of knowing what would happen next. According to her, his substance use and alcohol consumption had worsened between the fifth and seventh seasons of the series.

"When we watched that marriage, we all knew that he wanted it in his life too. He wanted a partner, he wanted children," she said.

Matthew Perry, who died in 2023 from the acute effects of ketamine, spoke openly about his battle with addiction in his 2022 memoir, "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing." In the book, he revealed that he had started drinking alcohol at the age of 14.

"For the first time in my life, I realized that nothing bothered me. I felt fulfilled, at peace. I had never been happier than at that moment," he wrote, describing the feeling he had experienced when he started drinking.

In his memoir, the actor also recounted how he became addicted to the painkiller Vicodin after a jet ski accident in 1996. He described the feeling he experienced from the drug as an extraordinary euphoria, which he then spent the rest of his life trying to recreate.

"It's that feeling I've been chasing my whole life," Perry wrote, reflecting on the impact that his first experience with the drug had in the years that followed.
