The government has cut the budget for multisports by 2.5 times, significantly shrinking funding for sports such as basketball, volleyball, weightlifting, or athletics.
The budget, down from 138 million leks in 2021, this year has fallen to 50 mln lek, a figure that restores funding for multisports many years later in time, in terms of funding.
Weightlifting, boxing, basketball and volleyball remain the sports that will benefit most of this money, but again the figure is quite low. About 20 mlof lek will benefit these four sports, while the rest will be divided between athletics, ping-pong, gymnastics and others.
As if the inconsiderate grant was not enough, it has not yet been shared with the sports federations, which the main source of revenue has precisely this government grant.
The only federations that have had budget increases from the government are skiing and mountaineering, whose budget is again insignificant.
