Lionel Messi expands empire in Spain, reaches agreement to buy Eldense

Lionel Messi is expanding his investments in the world of football and has once again turned his attention to Spain. The former Barcelona star has reached a preliminary agreement to buy Spanish second division club Eldense, based in the Alicante area.

The news was confirmed by the club to AFP. If the deal is finalized, it will be Messi's second experience as the owner of a football club in Spain, after purchasing Cornellà, a fourth-tier club, in April this year.

"Eldense confirms that Lionel Messi has reached a preliminary agreement with the club's current owners for the purchase of the shares held by Grupo TH Soluciones, an operation that would make him the majority shareholder of the club," Eldense announced.

However, the deal has not yet been finalized. The transaction is subject to the completion of legal and contractual procedures, including the financial and legal due diligence process, and authorization from the Spanish Sports Council.

Founded in 1921, Eldense has not disclosed financial details of the deal nor a possible date for its completion.

The club has stated that, after completing all procedures and obtaining the necessary authorizations, it will officially announce any new developments.

Messi, 39, is currently playing for Inter Miami in the United States, while his investments in football are increasingly extending into club ownership.
