Prime Minister Edi Rama declared that he is proud of Tirana for reaching this level of attention and respect in the world of contemporary architecture.
" First, I want to thank the members of the jury, who have accepted the invitation to join this important event for the history of the capital's development. I want to thank all the studios very respectfully. There are five studios with impressive works, with important reputations from the great master of Italian contemporary architecture, Massimiliano Fuksas, to one of the stars of Japanese architecture, Shigeru Ban, to UNStudio, Cebra, Oda, studio, which come today with a wealth of experience and countless challenges.
I am very proud that Tirana has reached this level of attracting attention and respect in the world of contemporary architecture, and I am also very pleased that today we have a practice which we have followed other times in the past years, in the time when I was mayor, to face different ideas for a development, which is not an ordinary development, it is a development in the heart of Tirana and it is about deciding on the construction of a building, which is added to the line of the sky of Tirana, but on the other hand, it adds to the jewels that Tirana has of modern architecture of this century ", said Rama.
Among the presentations, the construction of a multi-storey tower in the heart of the capital, behind the Opera and Ballet Theatre, which the leading architect who presented it, said was based on the Albanian tradition, specifically, in the style of the Zakat house in Gjirokastër, of the Palace with Cuba in Tirana, of the city of a thousand windows and the castle of Berat .
As can be seen from the pictures, the proposed new tower rises right above the flower garden behind the Opera and Ballet Theatre.
