Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that he has not given up on the increase in the price of electricity for the band above 800 kilowatts, but has only postponed it by one month.

We have made an important change in the contracts made with private hydropower plants that, with the obligation received by the government for pre-purchase, today would reduce the budget expenditure, to the point where we would be one step away from the teeth of state bankruptcy.

Given that we renegotiated those contracts and set a ceiling, and in front of the investors and diplomatic representatives of their countries who sat us down at the table and opposed us, we have much less obligations towards them and in the conditions of this crisis we have a greater benefit in relation with 300 million euros saved per year.
