The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, has reacted regarding the coffin that was brought by some protesters during the 35th day of the protest in Tirana.
After publishing footage from the protest on social media, Balla claims that the people who brought the coffin are supporters of the Democratic Party in Durrës, as well as a faction within this political force.
In his reaction, he recalls an event from 28 years ago, saying that Sali Berisha had brought Azem Hajdari's coffin to the Prime Minister's Office.
Balla states that mocking the shroud is not in line with Albanian customs or religious traditions, whether Islamic or Christian. He adds that he would give Sali Berisha an answer, but, according to him, Albanian and religious customs do not allow this.
"The people who brought a coffin to the boulevard are supporters of the Democratic Party of Durrës (and of a faction within it).
Sali Berisha committed this shameful act 28 years ago with the coffin of the late Azem Hajdari. Mocking the shroud, in the sense of mocking a symbol associated with death and burial, is not in line with Albanian customs, as well as religious ones, whether Islamic or Christian.
"I would give you an answer, Sali, but Albanian and religious customs do not allow me," Balla writes.
