Prime Minister Edi Rama has commented in strong tones on the statement made a few days ago by the American ambassador in Tirana, Yuri Kim, who said that the leaders must choose who is in control of this country, the citizens or the criminals and that dirty money becomes palaces and tourist resorts.
In an interview for the show "Noë", Rama said that you cannot throw mud at 99% of Albanians, due to the fact that 1% is connected to the world of crime.
"First, I categorically reject this language that the leaders should choose who should rule this country, the citizens or the criminals. As far as I am concerned, as the leader of this country, I have made the choice in time. I made the choice when I came out against the communist regime, I made the choice when I entered Albanian politics and I make my choice every day, I have no dilemma about it.
On the other hand, accusing unblock does not help the citizens at all, it does not help the fight against crime and money laundering at all, but on the contrary, it creates a big fog where the only beneficiaries are criminals and money launderers. "For the 1% of Albanians who are connected to the world of crime, you can't throw mud at 99% of them, neither outside nor inside", he emphasized.
