Criminal incident prevented in Vlora, 34-year-old arrested for attempting to use

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in Vlora, after allegedly attempting to use a firearm during a conflict with a 41-year-old man.

The event was prevented by the intervention of the Police services, which finalized the operation codenamed "Yacht".

According to the official announcement, the conflict occurred yesterday evening, at around 20:50, in the “Uji i Ftohtë” neighborhood, in a place called “Rrapi”. During patrol, Police officers observed a clash for weak motives between 34-year-old Mario Meçanaj, a resident of Vlora, and 41-year-old EH, a resident of Tirana.

The police intervened immediately to prevent the conflict from escalating. At the moment of intervention, the 34-year-old attempted to run away, but was caught and neutralized by the officers.

Initial investigations suggest that during the conflict, he attempted to use a pistol, which he then threw into the sand at the scene where he was apprehended by police. The firearm was found and seized as evidence.

Also, during the search of the 34-year-old's vehicle, the blue uniforms found and seized a metal fist booster.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Vlora for further action.
