Shoigu: Russia superior to West's arms, Ukraine exhausted
Sergei Shoigu

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on August 12 that the possibility of The Ukrainian army fighting was "almost exhausted" as he assessed Russian-made weapons.

Speaking at the Security Conference in Moscow, where Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu was present, Shoigu said the war was a serious test for Russia.

"During the special military operation, Russia has debunked the myth of superiority of Western military standards," he said.

"The preliminary results of the combat operations show that Ukraine's military resources are almost depleted," shoigu, one of President Vladimir Putin's most powerful allies, told reporters.

Shoigu said he would share details about Western weapons weaknesses and that none were untouchable.

"We have data for... "The destruction of German tanks, American armoured vehicles, British missiles and other weapons systems," he said. "We are ready to share our assessments... With our partners," Shoigu added.

But the war on the ground reveals other facts. Russia is using a large number of Soviet weapons belonging to World War II reserves in Ukraine, and lost T-80 tanks, to the more modern T-90 model.

Some reports also point out that modern Russian Kinzhal missiles, which are claimed to be supersonic and intangible, were shot down by U.S. Patriot missile systems in Kiev.
