The Government of Kosovo has made it mandatory for restaurants not to deprive customers of drinking water from the tap, in case it is supplied by the public water supply.

The Minister of Health Rifat Latifi presented the normative standards for the quality of water for consumption to protect people's health.

"In order to establish normative standards for the quality of water intended for human consumption.... I propose the approval of the decision that: in cases where gastronomy facilities are supplied by the public water supply, the business owner cannot prevent customers from being served with tap water" , said Latifi.

The minister also showed the rules in case the restaurant is not supplied by the water supply.

"In cases where the gastronomy facility is claimed to be supplied by well water, the owner of the facility is obliged to draw up and implement the operational water quality monitoring plan and to be provided with a water quality certificate from the IKSHPK and to display this certificate in local" , said the minister.

The decision was approved and according to it, restaurants in Kosovo are obliged to serve free water to customers.
