Kremlin: US and Britain should be considered hostile countries, they are waging
Putin and Peskov

The entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO is unlikely to make much of a difference, according to Russia's foreign minister. Speaking at a public lecture in Moscow, Sergei Lavrov said the two countries "have been participating in NATO military exercises for many years", according to Russian media, quoted by the BBC.

But he reiterated Moscow's position that his country's response to Sweden and Finland's decision to apply for membership in the military alliance would depend on the forces NATO would deploy on their territory.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, meanwhile, said countries like Britain and the United States, whose military advisers he says, "tell Ukrainian armed nationalists what to do, [and] give them intelligence." should be considered more than "unfriendly".

"We say it softly, calling those countries unfriendly. "Now I would say that these are already hostile states because what they are doing is war."

Russia has an official list of "unfriendly" countries, consisting mainly of NATO members, as well as non-member countries such as Australia and Japan, which have also imposed sanctions on Russia.
