Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos: European Union suspends funds for Serbia

The European Union has suspended financial support for Serbia due to Belgrade's policies towards the judicial system, EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos said.

"At this moment we have suspended all payments (to Serbia) within the framework of the development plan, because we are seeing regression in the judicial system again. Until this is corrected, the country will not be able to benefit from financial support from the EU," Kos said during a press conference, Serbian media quoted him as saying .

Earlier, media reported that Brussels is considering blocking 1.5 billion euros in aid, due to ties to Russia.
