Boris Johnson wins the no-confidence vote in the British Parliament. Deputies voted 211 in favor and 148 against. It took 180 votes against him to fall as prime minister. That way Boris Johnson will stay in office as prime minister, but the Conservative party is more divided than ever.
Johnson received 58.8% of the support from the Conservative Party, while 41.2% were against the current leadership. All conservative MPs took part in the voting.
The BBC writes that this result is lower than the 63% received by Theresa May during her leadership challenge in 2018.
In an appeal to the Conservatives in a closed-door discussion before the start of the vote, Boris Johnson was promised the conditions: "I will address them again in victory."
Johnson came to this point after much criticism for organizing the festivities at the prime minister's residence, at a time when his anti-covid measures did not allow mass gatherings.
