Turkey's concerns and its opposition to Finland and Sweden's applications for NATO membership are acceptable and legitimate, said today in Finland Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the Euro-Atlantic Alliance.
"These are legitimate concerns. "This is about terrorism, this is about arms exports," Stoltenberg told a joint news conference with Finnish President Sauli Niinisto.
Stoltenberg visited President Sauli Niinisto today and stressed that it is important to note that no other NATO ally has suffered more terrorist attacks than Turkey, and therefore its concerns should be taken seriously.
"No other NATO member has suffered more terrorist attacks than Turkey," said the Secretary-General of the Euro-Atlantic Alliance.
Stoltenberg and Niinisto also said talks with Turkey would continue, but offered no indication of progress in the negotiations.
