Andriy Naumov

The former head of the Ukrainian intelligence service, Andriy Naumov, was arrested the day before at the Presevo customs, after large quantities of undeclared money were found in his car.

A German citizen believed to be his driver was also detained along with him. During the search of the car, police found them full of 607,990 euros and 124,924 dollars as well as two emerald gemstones.

The Serbian Interior Ministry reported the incident by publishing only the initials of the detainees. Naumov was fired on charges of high treason and fled Ukraine a few days before the war began.

Naumov and his friend face between 1 and 12 years in prison, but Ukrainian media write that there are fears that Naumov may try to trade assets in exchange for his freedom for the fact that he has numerous Ukrainian state secrets.

In this context, they also emphasize the fact that the head of the Ministry of Interior in Serbia is Aleksandar Vulin, a politician close to the Kremlin.
