The American space agency, NASA has announced that it will be open to the much talked about topic, that of the 'existence' of UFOs.

NASA has announced that it will launch an independent study on what it calls unidentified aerial phenomena. The study will start this fall and will cost no more than $ 100,000 (94,000 euros). This study aims to identify how much information is needed to understand the inexplicable sights in the sky.

" We have the tools and the team that can help us improve our understanding of the unknown. This is the very definition of what science is. This is what we do ", said Thomas Zurbuchen, writes Euronews .

The agency argued that "unidentified phenomena in the atmosphere are of interest to both national and air security" and is in line with another goal: to ensure the safety of aircraft.

" There is no evidence that unidentified aerial phenomena are of extraterrestrial origin. "Our strong belief is that the biggest challenge of these phenomena is that it is a data-poor field, " he added.

Open study:

The study, which is expected to last nine months, will be fully open, without using classified military data. The independent team will be led by astrophysicist David Spergel, president of the Simons Foundation for the Advancement of Scientific Research.

" I can tell you that we do not know what makes up 95 percent of the universe. "So there are things we do not understand," Spergel said

"We will identify what data (from civilians, government, non-profit organizations, companies) exist and what else we should try to collect and how to best analyze it, " he added.
