The outgoing President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, through announcements on social networks, has informed us that he is on a several-day visit to the United States of America.

For two days he is in New York, where he participated in the International Scientific Conference "VATRA - 110 years in the service of the Fatherland and the Albanian nation", as well as the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Pan-Albanian Federation "Fire".
Also, the head of state has placed a bouquet of flowers in the graves of the martyrs of the "Atlantic" battalion who fell for the freedom of Kosovo, brothers Agron, Mehmet and Ylli Bytyçi.

So, the meetings of President Ilir Meta in the USA revolve only with the members of the Albanian-American organization "Vatra". Apparently, the Albanian head of state has not managed to secure even a meeting with even a peripheral American official.

It is not known if he tried to have meetings even with a simple American congressman or mayor, but the fact is that so far he has not developed, as otherwise he would have made them public.

Maybe President Meta is more afraid to lobby for meetings in the US, after he was reported to SPAK for lobbying in Washington through a shell company paying about 700 thousand dollars and accused of active and passive corruption in the private sector, for hiding wealth , non-payment of taxes and duties and abuse of office? Maybe, it could be that too.

It is worth mentioning the fact that for a long time President Ilir Meta, even though he is at the head of the Albanian state, has refused to meet with officials and former senior American officials during their visits to Tirana. The most concrete cases are the visit of the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Philip Reeker, as well as the visit of former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

While, behind them, the EU seems to be avoiding the president and the opportunity to prove this is the visit of the EU Enlargement Commissioner, Oliver Varhelyi, who avoided a meeting with Meta during his visit to Tirana.

The "closing of the doors" by the Americans for Meta comes after the clash he had with Ambassador Yuri Kim before the April 25 elections, where he accused him of interfering in the internal affairs of Albania.
