Why do yachts come to Albania? They take oil and unload the halls.

If the French President, The Prime Minister of Montenegro, that of Greece, or that of Bulgaria were to take out on Facebook every yacht and cruise ship that stops at the ports of their countries the posts would be so frequent that they would not have time space to deal with other problems of their governance.

But in Albania, it still constitutes news of the Prime Minister's Facebook parking giant tourist ships in the Port of Saranda.

"For the first time, the American luxury croc, Seaborn Sojourn, entered the waters of Albania to stop at the Port of Saranda," the Prime Minister writes.

This is not the first time luxury ships have parked in Saranda, stayed for the most part less than 24 hours and left. A short time ago, the yacht was said to belong to Jeff Bezzos, Amazon's boss.

The time of stay indicates that the real reason for the arrival of these ships in the Port of Saranda is not for tourist purposes, because in 24 hours, the tourists on board took the time only to spend on any pienear the port. So the tourist benefit is minimal.

But the financial benefit of yachts and crocs on the other hand is maximum. They come to the Port of Saranda lured by the favourable price of oil, which they receive with a tax of only 40 lek on the price of litre.

Put simply, if today the price of a litre of oil in Albania stripped of taxes is somewhere 120 lek, yachts get it 160 leks, almost 100 lek less than Albanians are buying in fuel points for more than a week already.

Saving is not incalculable, even for billionaires, as it is about tank tools that carry thousands of tons of fuel. So only for a tonne of oil filled in Saranda are saved nearly 100,000 euros.

In addition, there have been reports in the past that some of these luxury ships (which in albania's case hardly show the development of elite-level tourism, as it is trying to sell) have discharged tons of sewage off the country's coasts and beaches, benefiting from lack of controls, neglect, or even corruption.
