Draft budget for 2026 / Here's how the government will allocate 8.8 billion

The government approved this Tuesday the draft budget for 2026, which is programmed at a value of 886.8 billion lek.

Meanwhile, the pension indexation fund is estimated at 1,653 million lek and the pensioner bonus at 10,000 million lek.

While the fund for reimbursement of medications does not exceed the ceiling of 13,500 million lek. The fund for hospital services is detailed and used by decision of the Council of Ministers.

Rama announced today that from January 2026, pensions will increase month by month, in addition to annual indexation.

"The urban pension for full years of work will increase by 1,800 lekë; The partial urban pension will increase by 800 lekë; The rural pension will increase by 1,000 lekë; The family pension will increase by 700 lekë; The disability pension will increase by 600 lekë," said Rama.

This average growth will continue in the following years, at least until 2029.

Meanwhile, in December, pensioners expect to receive the bonus like every year-end, which this time will also be divided into two categories: Those who receive a pension of up to 20 thousand lek will benefit from a 15 thousand lek bonus, while those with a pension over 20 thousand lek will receive a 10 thousand lek bonus.
