Inflation hits Albanian families: Prices increase 3.2%, transportation

The cost of living has increased further, straining the budgets of Albanian families.

According to INSTAT , inflation reached 3.2% during August, marking a strong increase compared to the 2.3% level recorded in the same period last year.

The biggest hit has come from transportation, where prices have increased by 12% in one year.

During August alone, citizens paid 3.9% more for this category compared to July.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 2.8%, but because they account for the largest share of household spending, they had the main impact on the increase in inflation. Housing costs are also higher.

Rent, water, electricity, gas and other fuels cost 3.7% more than a year ago.

Increases were also recorded for entertainment, sports and culture by 5.4%, as well as for insurance and financial services by 4.6%. In contrast, prices for clothing and footwear decreased by 3.2%, while information and communication fell by 1%.

Compared to July, consumer prices increased by 0.1%, confirming that the pressure on citizens' pockets is continuing./ Tch
