Former Prime Minister  Fatos Nano  is in serious health condition in a private hospital in the capital.

In an official announcement, the hospital announces that he has been hospitalized for several days and is currently in very serious health condition, following a cardiorespiratory arrest.

"The patient has been hospitalized for several days, in serious condition after a cardiorespiratory arrest. The patient is currently considered in very serious condition, with a reserved prognosis!", the hospital announced.

The former leader of the Socialist Party has been in intensive care for 10 days with brain damage.

73-year-old Fatos Nano, who retired from politics in 2005, was the country's prime minister (1991, 1997-1998 and 2002-2005).

Fatos Nano is the founder of the Socialist Party and its first leader.
