Tirana Prosecutor's Office says that former KLA member Dritan Goxhaj, arrested today in Tirana at the request of the Kosovo Special Prosecution, is charged with "Intimidation during the criminal procedure" and also."The official's repentance in the performance of official duties."

He was detained in Tirana today and is expected to be extradited to Kosovo. He is suspected of leaking the names of witnesses in the trials for former KLA members, but his lawyer has called it a farce, saying it "is Serbia's hand" after the charges were made.

Reaction of the Tirana Prosecutor:

Today, 31.07.2023, within the framework of the "Request of the Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor's Office", was executed the execution of the letter for providing legal assistance to the Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor's Office, on bereavement of criminal proceedings charged with the citizen D.G., for the criminal offenses "Intimidation during the criminal procedure" and "Obstruction of the official person in the performance of official duties", provided for by the criminal legislation of the Republic of Kosovo.

The decision of the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Tirana was executed on the determination of the personal security measure with a coercion character "Arrest in prison" provided for by Article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code against the citizen D.G., with the purpose of extradition, and control was exercised in the country of his residence.

These procedurali acts were carried out in the fulfillment of the provision of legal assistance, because the Sole Judge had issued the arrest sheet and ordered its transfer to the custody of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in the Kingdom of The Lower Countries ('expected state'). The Only Judge also authorized the search of Mr. D.G., the place of arrest and his place of residence, as well as the seizure of materials during their inspection (the Order for Authorization of The Search and Seizure)."

The Sole Judge has found that there is a based suspicion that the D.G. citizen holds criminal responsibility for criminal offenses that fall within the jurisdiction of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, namely for intimidation during criminal proceedings and obstruction of official persons in carrying out official duties, respectively under Article 387 and Article 401 of the Criminal Code of Kosovo of 2019 (Law No. 06/L-074), As defined in Article 15(2) of the Law. The proceedings for the extradition of this citizen to the Republic of Kosovo will be carried out.
