The common customs point in Qafë-Thane between Albania and North Macedonia enters into force. "One stop, one check" will 'remove' the borders between the two countries, facilitating the flow of people and goods. The Prime Minister of RMV, Dimitar Kovacevski gave a speech where he explained what this program will consist of and what are its strengths.
Kovacevski said that in addition to this, Corridor 8 will be built within 5 years, enabling the best infrastructure in the Balkans. According to him, in the latter, it is not necessary to have borders.
"Today we are here together at the Qafë-Thane border crossing where we mark the beginning of the "One Stop Shop", the work of the two Ministries of the Interior and Customs. Today we enable the rapid circulation of our citizens between the two countries and the fastest circulation of companies that transport products at the largest border crossing between the two countries. Enabling the circulation of people and capital simultaneously increases connections through people, communication between people, between the two states, something that was missing between Albania and Macedonia at that time for half a century, but this is now a thing of the past. Today we are an example of how two neighboring countries should behave. With this, the work of 11 companies of our country oriented towards export and trade with other countries is facilitated, thus enabling easier access to the ports of Albania. the tourist sites of Albania but also in the tourist sites of the RMV a few kilometers from the border crossing. But we don't stay here.
Today we mark the beginning of the "One Stop Shop" between the two border crossings, but also Corridor 8 on the Albanian side and the RMV side, where it will become a reality in 5 years. If the characteristic of the infrastructure between Albania and RMV was that it did not exist, now in five years we will have the best infrastructure in the Balkans. Second, together with Albania, Bulgaria and Italy, we managed to put Corridor 8 on the map of trans-European corridors, which means that there can be funding from the EU, and we work on projects related to the construction of the railway between Macedonia and Albania, especially Kîrçova and Liri.
This will enable the realization of what we agreed amicably, the new port in Durrës, port in Struga that will have positive effects on Macedonian companies. If today the nearest port where you need to send the ship or the products you buy abroad is in Piraeus, this means that the financial means will remain somewhere in the bank and you will not be able to use them, while the products will not be 'have. Enabling Corridor 8 and the port of Struga and the large investments that Albania is making, ships will reach Struga where until now no one thought. This means better financial liquidity of companies, but also opportunities to become attractive for Central European companies that will do business with our companies.
As Grubi also said, I am one of those who repeat that we do not need borders in the Balkans. There are no borders in Europe, there is no need to have them in the Balkans, that's why political relations are at the highest level. If you look today at the political relations between the Republic of Moldova and Albania, it is at the highest level ," said Kovacevski, who also praised the "Open Balkans" initiative, where trade exchanges between the Republic of Moldova and Albania have increased by 40%, while between the Republic of Moldova and Serbia by 50%. .
