Ilija Srdanović, a cardiologist and professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad, is at the head of the "Student List" challenging Aleksandar Vučić in the Serbian elections.
After publicly supporting student-led anti-corruption protests, he was declared leader of the independent "Student List" in September 2026. His platform focuses on decentralizing healthcare and prioritizing national survival, over immediate integration into the European Union.
At the last student meeting in Novi Sad, where he was introduced as a candidate, Srdanović recalled that for almost two years an answer has been sought for the Novi Sad tragedy, where the roof of the train station collapsed and 16 people were killed.
He added that citizens are looking for a way out through youth, "which should make the country better."
The Head of the Student List was born in Novi Sad in 1970. He completed his studies, completed his specializations, and defended his doctorate in 2012.
Since 2018, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad, in the department of emergency medicine.
Srdanović supported the student protests from the beginning, speaking for the first time at rallies held in Belgrade in May of this year.
