Early elections for members of the National Assembly are being held in Serbia today, following continued protests against the rule of Aleksandar Vučić.
The “Albanian Coalition” will be the name of the joint list of Albanian political parties from the Presevo Valley, with which they will compete in the parliamentary elections on October 25 in Serbia. These elections are a chance for Albanians in Serbia to be represented by a larger number of deputies in the Serbian Parliament, as previously only MP Shaip Kamberi has represented the Albanians from the Presevo Valley.
Local media reports that polling stations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voting has also begun at the School of Chemical Technology in Vranje. 10 polling stations have been opened for voters from Kosovo.
In addition to Vranje, voters from Kosovo can also vote in Kursumli, Raška and Tutin. In Vranje there are 66,439 voters and 113 polling stations, while in the Pcinja district there are 199,058 voters.
Serbian citizens are voting in the early parliamentary elections and will be able to exercise their civil rights from 7 am to 8 pm at the polling station where they are registered on the voter list with an identification document - ID card or passport.
As stated on the website of the Electoral Commission of the Republic, if citizens are present at the polling station when the polling station closes or immediately before it, they will be allowed to vote.
To vote, citizens must prove their identity with a valid ID card or passport, and when verifying their identity at the polling station, it is desirable, but not mandatory, that they also bring the invitation to vote, which should have been delivered to them before the elections.
In case the invitation to vote has not been delivered, or the number and address of the polling center where they can vote are not known, citizens can check which polling center they are voting at by searching the website of the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government.
The citizens of Serbia are electing a new National Assembly in extraordinary parliamentary elections.
