The Special Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with the State Police, the Police of Vlora, as well as the Investigators of the National Bureau of Investigation, has completed the investigations and sent for trial to the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, criminal proceedings No. 170/2022 in charge of the defendants Gregor (alias Ledion) Likaj, Arbër Saraseli, Saverjo Imeraj and Qemal Pekmezi, accused of committing the criminal offense of "Trafficking in narcotics", carried out in a special form of cooperation, that of the group organized crime, provided by articles 283/a/1 and 28/4 of the Criminal Code, "Structured criminal group", provided by article 333/ai of the Criminal Code, "Commitment of criminal offenses by a criminal organization or a structured criminal group" , provided by article 334 of the Criminal Code, as well as "Production and sale of narcotics",provided by article 283/1 of the Criminal Code.

From the acts and evidence administered in the interests of this criminal proceeding, as well as the acts administered within the framework of mutual legal assistance by the Italian justice authorities, it has resulted that on August 7, 2022, the four defendants, using vessels with the inscriptions "Syri", "Eljo", "Open Space/Amantia" (seized by us), exactly in the transversa of "Gjiri t Arusha", about 13.4 miles from the coast, have carried out the transportation and trafficking of the amount of 153 packages, with total weight 992 kg of narcotics of the "Cannabis Sattiva" type, in the other sailing vessel named "Scarabeo".

This vessel was seized by the police services of Guardia Di Finanza Italy, and inside it was seized the amount of 992 kg, narcotic substance of the type "Cannabis Sattiva", trafficked by the defendants, and two Ukrainian citizens were arrested who were on board the sailing unit named "Scarabeo".

With the act dated 20.07.2023, it was proceeded with the separation of criminal proceedings acts no. 170 of 2022, their numbering with no. 170/1 of 2023, and the continuation of the investigations for the criminal offenses provided by articles 283/ a/1, 28/4, 333/a and 334 of the Criminal Code, regarding the identification and prosecution of other accomplices of the defendants.
