An arms race seems to have started in the Balkans. In this regard, Serbia has decided to restore the mandatory military service for citizens, and local factories continue to produce ammunition, while in November, Mi-35P attack helicopters, which Vucic bought from Cyprus, also landed in Belgrade.

Therefore, Kosovo, in addition to increasing the defense budget to 200 million euros, will also equip its army with "Javelin" missiles. The newest American weapon is expected to be added to the KSF arsenal, after the USA has accepted the request of Albin Kurti's government for its purchase.

Kosovo has also bought Bayraktar drones from Turkey and recently equipped the police with long guns with a perimeter of 800 meters, which were bought from Croatia.

Even Albania is not left behind in the arms race, as two American "Black Hawk" helicopters were delivered to the Armed Forces at the beginning of the year, as part of the first order for helicopters, supported by over 50 million dollars from US aid funds.

The Ministry of Defense has also concluded a contract with Turkey for the purchase of 3 "Bayraktar" drones, which are expected to be added to the FA's arsenal in 2025, while interest has also been expressed for "Javelin" missiles.

But the "Lion" of the Balkans in terms of the arms race is undoubtedly Greece. In addition to the current arsenal, in a newly signed agreement between Hellenic Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Athens will receive a gift from the US, two C-130H aircraft, ten P-3 jet engines, 60 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles , three Protector-class ships and other military equipment.

Greece will also enter the beneficiary program of F-35 fighter jets. According to the agreement, an agreement has been reached for the purchase of 20+20 modern fifth generation fighters.

Participation in the F-35 program marks a significant strengthening of Greece's defense capabilities as well as an improvement of its diplomatic position in the southeastern Mediterranean region.

The new weapons allow Greece to further consolidate its positions in the ranking of the most powerful armed forces in the world and the region.

As for the Balkans, Turkey leads the ranking with its army and Athens always follows behind, while the list continues with Romania and Serbia as the most powerful armies.

According to the list published by the "Global Firepoër" portal, which deals with the analysis of the armies of the countries of the world, Albania ranks 8th in the region, leaving behind only North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Kosovo and in the country of 91 in the world.
