The Elbasan police have arrested 35-year-old Eduart Zito at the border point of Qafë Thana, who is accused of falsifying the election results of April 25 in Elbasan District.

"From the investigative actions, it is suspected that this citizen, in cooperation with 7 other citizens (previously banned) who had the task of counting votes during the election process dated 25.04.2021, has marked different data in the result tables from those of the ballot papers, in order to favor the candidates of the electoral subjects." it is stated in the Police announcement.

It is about "vote traffic" within the Democratic Party. In two polling stations, votes were removed from the candidate Ardjan Zeneli and added to the democratic candidate Lefter Gështenja. Accordingly, 31 votes were removed from Zeneli in the voting center no. 2780 and 38 votes in the voting center no. 2796, i.e. 69 votes in total, the vast majority of which went to Gëštënja, 61 votes. 

The falsification of the result was noticed by the post-election review conducted by the Central Election Commission
