Serbian Interior Minister and leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, has put the Kosovo issue at the center of his campaign for the October 25 general elections in Serbia. 

After causing a storm in Tirana and Pristina with the statement that the Serbian flag would fly again in Prizren, Dačić did not hesitate to reiterate this stance at a new electoral rally in Belgrade, challenging even former German minister Michael Roth, who, as he said, had attacked him for such a comment...

"He said: How dare Dacic say something like that? Well, I dare! We are different from others. We dare, because we think so and because we have defended Kosovo and Metohija with war.

And I especially dare to say this because I was born in Prizren, where today more than 20 Serbs live. Thirty years ago, more than 10,000 of them lived there. 

And eight centuries ago, the first Serbian capital was there. It doesn't have to happen tomorrow, but it will happen just as we have done before. We waited four and a half centuries and consecrated Kosovo with Kumanovo."

He said that Kosovo and Metohija, as he called it, is not a myth, but an ongoing war for its territory and that there is no Serbia without Kosovo. Dacic highly praised the figure of Milosevic, who, according to him, returned glory to the Serbs, and called China and Russia the best friends of the country, as they supported Serbia on the Kosovo issue.

"I helped more than 20 countries withdraw their recognition of the independence of the so-called Kosovo. If we are a factor, we will continue with that policy. Another 10, 20 countries will withdraw their recognition of Kosovo. 

We are continuing this fight. Russia, China and others who vote against Kosovo in international organizations are our friends. And no sanctions, no hostility towards them is out of the question. I am not a Russophile, I am a Serbophile. We need this for the sake of Serbia."

Dacic has expressed his intention to run for president when the country's presidential elections are announced. Dacic's party, which was founded by Milosevic himself, is running under the slogan, Factor of Stability, a term used by international diplomats to describe the war criminal's role in the 1990s, before he ended up in The Hague.
