Polish authorities have neutralized a high-profile security threat to top state officials after arresting a man suspected of planning an attack on Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The news was initially confirmed by the head of the Polish government himself through a post on the X platform, where he wrote: "The man who threatened an attack has been arrested," praising the quick and decisive response of the police structures. The arrest was also officially confirmed by the Minister of the Interior, Marcin Kierwiński.

Extraordinary meeting and security measures

The threats, which were received electronically in the early hours of the morning, put Warsaw's intelligence and security services on alert.

After an extraordinary meeting called by the government, attended by representatives of the police, the State Protection Service and the Security Agency's Counter-Terrorism Section (ABW), authorities announced that there was a high risk of danger.

Although violent crimes of this nature remain relatively rare in Poland, the country continues to face deep political tensions and serious security challenges, also influenced by the proximity to the war in Ukraine. Prompt action by law enforcement agencies prevented further escalation of the situation.
