Within this 10-year period, Albania aims to be a leader in the region in the field of electricity, in terms of production and export.

This is what Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed during a meeting with citizens of Elbasan. Speaking about the energy crisis that has engulfed Europe, including Albania, Rama said that the government will continue to keep the price of electricity unchanged for family subscribers and small businesses.

On the other hand, Rama indicated that the government's intention is that within this decade Albania will produce all the electricity in the country and export it net.

"We will try to keep the price of energy intact for families and small businesses until the end, but on the other hand we will continue to try to convey as much as possible the message that this does not depend only on us, it also depends on you, from anyone who turns the lights on and off in the house. The more we save the energy that we spend in a part of it even unnecessarily, the more we are sure that not only we will not miss it, but also that we will not pay more for it. Another factor is rain. We have entered a phase where when we open our eyes we expect to see clouds and we are happy when it rains, while we are upset when we see that the sky is clear. Albania does not cover its needs with its own energy capacities. In case all our hydro plants are full, we cover 75% of the needs.

We are trying and we are well on our way to build other sources, either solar energy that we are building two large parks, or even wind energy. But we are also very far ahead with the Vlora thermal power plant project with liquefied gas, which will serve us well for the next phase of our development. It is certain that within this decade we will have full energy sovereignty, we will produce all the energy in the country and we will be a net exporter. But until then we have to finish the work we started.

Even the 800 kilowatt band that we took as a measure to introduce in October, was not introduced for the reason that we are not here to implement measures as much as we can and collect income as much as we can, but we are there every time a small opportunity to do more for people, do it and use it. We are following it carefully every day, the rains on the one hand and savings on the other hand to see what we do with the month of November with the bandage" , said Rama.
