The Mayor of Kavaja, Fisnik Qosja , has responded to the Political Leader of the Socialist Party for the Tirana Region, Taulant Balla , after the latter criticized the start of works on the city's main boulevard at the height of the tourist season.

Qosja said that businesses, about which Balla is concerned, have supported the intervention and that citizens have long requested the replacement of existing tiles.

"All those businesses that Taulant is complaining about, who have called me and contacted me, have told me: 'Mayor, they need to be replaced.' Every citizen who passes by has told me that those plates need to be removed and replaced. We did the right thing by removing those plates to turn the boulevard into a road with quality asphalt, with European signage, as the city of Kavaja deserves. The face of that area will be completely changed," he said.

The Democratic Mayor called on Balla not to deal with municipal affairs, but to focus on issues that, according to him, are the responsibility of the government.

"I tell Taulant not to worry about the municipality's affairs. He should worry about the government's affairs, because you have taken everything away from Kavaja. For that tourism that you say is wonderful, today the beach area has no sewage system. It has been 12 years since the government built the sewage system in the beach area. You should worry that today Kavaja has no water supply, no State Cadastral Agency, no court and no prosecutor's office," declared Qosja.
