Dendias: The issue of the sea in The Hague will create a new chapter in our

During his visit to Tirana, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias emphasized that the compromise reached today for the referral of the sea issue to The Hague will serve as a new chapter for bilateral relations between the two countries.

Dendias emphasized that international law is what will put the "dots on i" on this issue, which for years has been discussed as one of the obstacles to diplomatic relations between the two countries.

"My arrival here in Tirana is the last step after my meeting with our colleague Osmani. I want you to be clear, that peace and stability is the primary part for us. We have in front of us a very concrete step that we must push, which is the escalation in the north of Kosovo. In the meetings I had in Belgrade and Pristina, I underlined the dialogue between the two countries.

Today we had the opportunity to talk about our bilateral relations. We talked about the agreement two years ago, so that we can bring to The Hague for the sea and the continental shelf. The international law of the sea is what will regulate bilateral relations and will create a new chapter of our bilateral relations. We also talked about our minorities here and the Albanians here. They are the bridge of our cooperation. In fact, the visit of the Greek Prime Minister will contribute to this aspect. We discussed the protection of the environment, especially the Vjosa River, and we agreed on its protection, the announcement will be made on the 22nd and 23rd," he said.

Dendias emphasized that the neighboring country will support us on our way to membership in the European Union.

"We also discussed energy and the agreement between Albania and Greece regarding energy. We talked about the most investments in Greece and Albania. I would also like to refer to Albania's European perspective. Greece has been a warm supporter of Albania on the European path. I conveyed this message to Belgrade, Pristina and here. We think and believe that this road is a reality with a passage and is of great importance in today's conjectures which are a little strange in the times we live in. The areas of influence do not suit either the European values or the European building. Albania's perspective in the EU is a transition. I will stay for a lunch with Rama later and thank him. Then we will build the two schools, because this shows our close relationship in the field of education. I hope to welcome you to Athens very soon! "- said Denidas.
