The Sea Agreement / Xhaçka in the conference with Dendias: Compromise to

The Foreign Minister of Greece, Nikos Dendias, has arrived in Tirana on an official visit. Dendias met with his counterpart minister Olta Xhaçka.

In her speech, Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka said that there is a compromise to take it to the Hague Court, while adding that Albania has sought a solution for the repeal of the Law of War

"We have an understanding to address and seek solutions to all issues, one of which was the agreement with the sea, both sides have the will for a compromise to refer the issues to The Hague, cooperation, such as social fields, culture, are bridge for deepening cooperation. The product is also our demand for the negotiation and signing of pensions, which will benefit the Albanians who work and live in Albania, as far as the situation in the region is concerned, but also further, Dendias comes from a regional tour, we talked about the region and Europe, we condemn the attack on Ukraine, the integration of the Western Balkans takes priority and includes Kosovo. Greece is a support for our integration and allow me to thank you for this vital process", said Xhaçka.

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias emphasized that the compromise reached today regarding the referral of the sea issue to The Hague will serve as a new chapter for bilateral relations between the two countries.

Dendias emphasized that international law is what will put the "dots on i" on this issue, which for years has been discussed as one of the obstacles in diplomatic relations between the two countries.

"My arrival here in Tirana is the last step after my meeting with our colleague Osmani. I want you to be clear that peace and stability for us is the primary part. We have before us a very concrete step that we must push, which is the escalation in the north of Kosovo. In the meetings I had in Belgrade and Pristina, I underlined the dialogue between the two countries.

Today we had the opportunity to talk about our bilateral relations. We talked about the agreement two years ago, so that we can bring to The Hague for the sea and the continental shelf. The international law of the sea is what will regulate bilateral relations and will create a new chapter of our bilateral relations. We also talked about our minorities here and the Albanians here. They are the bridge of our cooperation. In fact, the visit of the Greek Prime Minister will contribute to this aspect. We discussed the protection of the environment, especially for the Vjosa River, and we agreed on its protection, the announcement will be made on the 22nd and 23rd," he said.
