The Albanian government has signed the agreement for the purchase of "Bayraktar" drones from Turkey. The news was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama in an exit from the Prime Minister's Office together with the Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi.

According to Rama, these drones will be in the function of national security, the fight against crime and the illegal cultivation of hashish, civil emergencies and the protection of the territory.

"The signing of the agreement for the purchase of the fleet of Bayraktar drones, the highest flight technology for military, police and civil missions, in the function of national security, the fight against crime and illegal cultivation of hashish, civil emergencies, territory defense and the collection of geospatial information" writes the Prime Minister in his post on social networks.

During the speech, Rama thanked Turkish President Erdogan and said that the relationship between Albania and Turkey is getting better and better.

The head of the government further added that these drones are of a high level of technology and that the "Bayraktar" company is preparing over 30 people who will take control of these drones.

"I am happy today and in the meantime I want to start with a thank you to Erdogan who has been very important in this process. We all know that when it comes to unmanned vehicles, drones are not only about him wealth of money but it also has to do with the fact that you are able to pass and enter, queue, because the queue is very long and on the other hand it is luck to be on the right side. Proud to be lined up in the alliance largest military alliance, NATO and at the same time to be aligned in a strategic partnership between us and Turkey. The natural relationship built over the years is at its best today.

This is a very good day for our armed forces and for friendship with Turkey. This is a relationship that is always getting better. With this agreement we are not bringing here to Albania the best high technology in this field, but we will bring to Albania a new field of knowledge and it is very good that the agreement is not only to buy the drones but it is also about the construction of a bridge between our Armed Forces and the company "Bayraktar" that will take care of the training of people, more than 30 people who will be selected very carefully with the help of the company "Bayraktar" will be put in a training and will be prepared for assume the function of the control center that will be the object of the highest technology at the air base of Kuçova", said Rama.
