The local elections of 2023 will be held one hour earlier. This is what the head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Enkelejd Alibeaj, said after the meeting in the Presidency with the head of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, on the discussions on setting the date of the elections.
Alibeaj said that for him the date was not important as long as the election process was done as soon as possible. He announced that he has asked President Begaj to talk about the territorial reform.
"What I said to the President of the Republic is that it depends on the date when the elections will be held. I suggested to the President that it be a date as early as possible between April 15 and May 15 because the parties should an hour before give the Albanians the right to vote. Without specifying a fixed date, our position is an hour ago. The date of the elections is a date where the will of the Albanians is expressed. I also asked him for something else, that at the moment when the president is going to speak, I asked him that this opinion should not become an obstacle for the territorial reform, I asked him to express himself at some point after October 1." said Alibeaj.
Asked by journalists that Oerd Bylykbashi from Rithemelimi was also invited to the presidency earlier, Alibeaj said that he was invited as a representative of the DP.
"I asked the president and he told me that he invited me to the representative of the DP. Then the president can call whoever he wants to the presidency. You can take out the others yourself then." Alibeaj said.
