The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, received in a private audience the bishops and diocesan administrators of Albania, who are in Rome as part of the "Ad Limina Apostolorum" visit.

This is a periodic visit that the bishops of each country make to the Vatican, usually once every five years, to meet with the Pope and inform him about the state of the Church in their countries.

The meeting with Pope Leo XIV lasted more than an hour. During the conversation, the Albanian bishops acquainted the Holy Father with the situation of the Catholic Church in Albania, the challenges and concerns it faces, as well as developments in the country.

On behalf of the bishops and the entire Catholic Church in Albania, the Pope was greeted by Archbishop Gjergj Meta, bishop of Rreshen and president of the Episcopal Conference of Albania.

During the meeting, representatives of the Albanian Catholic Church presented the Pope with an icon of Our Lady of Good Counsel, the Patroness of the Albanian People, created by an Albanian artist. Through this meeting, they also reiterated the invitation for the Pope to visit Albania.

Another gift was the book dedicated to the martyrs of Albania, which summarizes the history of persecution and resistance of the Catholic Church in our country.
