Zinedine Zidane's France and Italy shared a point each in the Nations League clash, in a match that ended 1-1 and kept "Les Bleus" at the top of Group A1.

For Zidane it was his first home match as France coach, while Italy took an important point.

France started the match better, applying high pressure from the opening minutes. Italy had the best chance early on through Moise Kean, but Mike Maignan's intervention kept the French goal intact. France then came close with a shot from Michael Olise that deflected off the crossbar.

The second half also brought the breakthrough. In the 55th minute, Michael Olise executed a perfect free kick, sending the ball into the net and giving France the lead. Donnarumma had no chance to react.

Italy did not give up and found the equalizer in the 68th minute. Alessandro Bastoni took advantage of a mistake in the French defense and beat Maignan, bringing the Azzurri back into the game.

In the final minutes, Italy had other chances, while France were forced to play with 10 men after Dayot Upamecano's second yellow card in the 85th minute. Donnarumma also made several crucial saves, while Olise was named man of the match by Flashscore.

The draw keeps France top of Group A1 with 7 points, while Italy moves to 4 points. Also in the same group is Belgium, which in the evening's other match beat Turkey 3-0, with Kevin De Bruyne scoring twice and Romelu Lukaku another. The group is completed by Turkey.

In Group B4, Poland won 6-0 against Romania, with Robert Lewandowski scoring a hat-trick. In the same group, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden were held to a 1-1 draw.

It was a special night for Bosnia as Edin Džeko played his last match for the national team. The 40-year-old striker ended his international career after almost two decades with Bosnia and Herzegovina. He leaves as the national team's all-time record holder for appearances and goals, with 151 appearances and 73 goals.
