A Russian influencer has passed away at the age of 40, due to her vegan diet. The media reports that Russian Zhanna Samsonova followed a diet deficient in calcium and vitamin D for 4 years.
For four years, she lived only on "fruits, sunflower seeds, fruit smoothies and juices", becoming known as a leading vegan influencer in social networks.
But a diet low in important nutrients and deficient in calcium and vitamin D led to her death. She died in Malaysia, where she was following a diet based on exotic fruits.
Friends and family announced her death on July 21. "She died of hunger", claims a friend of hers, while her mother speaks of "an infection similar to cholera". However, the official cause of her death has not been disclosed.
Vegan influencer Zhanna Samsonova often promotes raw food on social media, where she is known to her millions of followers on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram under the nickname Zhanna D'Art.
"A few months ago, in Sri Lanka, she looked exhausted. From there, she went home to receive medication, but then ran away again. When I saw her in Phuket, I was horrified," a friend of hers told Newsflash.
"I lived one floor above her and every day I was afraid to find her dead body in the morning. I convinced her to seek treatment, but she did not succeed", reports another.
