Evanthi Pango

Evanthi Pango, known for short as Eva, 34 years old, is one of the names that has become a symbol of the protests of recent days in Tirana, after she was seriously injured in the head during the clash between protesters and police forces in the "Elbasan Street" area.

According to reports, Pango was hit in the forehead by a tear gas canister. She lost blood and was rushed to the Trauma Hospital, where she remains under intensive medical monitoring.

The good news is that her condition is now stable and out of danger. According to medical data released today, the blow to the head did not cause brain damage and no surgical intervention is currently required.

Evanthi Pango has been described in recent reports as an activist and protester, while in some media outlets as a student. She was active in the protest and published footage from the ground just before she was injured.

Pango was among hundreds of young people who took to the streets to express their discontent and demand change. Her injury has brought another human dimension to the protests, highlighting once again the danger of escalating street clashes.

In footage released immediately after the incident, the 34-year-old appeared bleeding on her face and head, while other citizens helped transport her to the hospital.

Today, a day after the injury, the news from the Trauma Hospital is encouraging, as Eva is conscious, in stable parameters and continues to be followed by the medical team.

Regardless of political beliefs or how everyone views the protest, her case should serve a simple message, where no one who takes to the streets to express a position should end up in the hospital.

In these hours, above any political debate, what matters is that Evanthi Pango fully recovers and returns to her family and people.
