Israel's war with Iran has so far cost the Jewish state about $11.5 billion, according to an estimate published by the Israeli Ministry of Finance.
According to the report, the total cost of the conflict amounts to 35 billion shekels, while Israeli financial authorities estimate that the current budget can bear this burden if the escalation does not expand further.
However, according to Haaretz, the Defense Ministry disputes this calculation, arguing that the campaign against Iran alone has cost about 39 billion shekels, not including operations in Lebanon and long-term recovery costs.
Defense officials are expected to seek about $9 billion in additional funding to cover military operations and post-conflict reconstruction.
According to the Ministry of Finance, of the total amount calculated:
-22 billion shekels are related to direct military spending;
-12 billion shekels in compensation for businesses and families;
-and 1 billion shekels in additional civilian spending.
The report also highlights that the costs also include the activities of the Israeli army in Lebanon, including the mobilization of up to 120,000 reservists.
