The Kherson region in southern Ukraine, which Russia claims to have occupied, will switch to the ruble on May 1.
The news was reported by Western media, which quoted Russian state media Ria Novosti.
The deputy head of the region's Civil-Military Administration, Kirill Stremousov, told the RIA-Novosti news agency that the transition period would last up to four months, during which the Russian ruble and the Ukrainian hryvnia would circulate.
After this period, the region will completely switch to the use of Russian currency.
