Putin threatens the west: We'll hit you like a road!

Vladimir Putin has made a new threat to the West, saying any country that will intervene in Ukraine will face a military response "fast as lightning."

"We have all the tools for this, which no one else can boast of having... We'll use them if necessary. We have already made all the decisions on this," Putin said.

His latest warning comes as Western countries have increased military support for Ukraine in recent days.

On Tuesday, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin pledged to move "heaven and earth" to make sure Ukraine beats Russia.

In recent days there have been a growing number of promises to increase military support for Ukraine, including Germany's announcement that it will send 50 anti-aircraft tanks, in a strong turn of its political stance not to send heavy weapons to Ukraine.

Great Britain is also expected to demand that Ukraine be made available to military aircraft.

Earlier this week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also claimed the West "is throwing fuel on the fire" by giving Ukraine armaments and said the conflict could lead to World War III.

Putin's warning comes as tensions rose further with Gazprom's announcement that it cut off gas supply to Poland and Bulgaria, saying it is because the countries refused to follow Moscow's new rule to pay for gas in rubles.
