While transporting a sick girl, the ambulance plane crashes and bursts into

A twin-engine plane carrying a child patient and her mother crashed in a northeast Philadelphia neighborhood Friday evening, bursting into flames.

The Learjet 55 with six people on board crashed after taking off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration told CNN.

On board were the infant patient and her mother, who were returning to Mexico after the child was treated in Philadelphia, said Shai Gold, a spokesman for the flight operator Jet Rescue Air Ambulance. On board were four crew members, a pilot, co-pilot and two doctors, all Mexican citizens.

The plane was bound for Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, and was scheduled to stop for fuel at Springfield Airport.

"We cannot confirm any survivors," the airline said.

Just before the plane crashes, an air traffic controller is heard trying to contact it. “Medevac med service, northeast tower. Medevac medical service, northeast tower. Are you on frequency?”

A minute later, the controller is heard saying: "We have a missing plane."

Videos from the scene show the aircraft in flames. Several people nearby were injured, roads were closed, and Northeast Philadelphia Airport was also temporarily closed.

"Very sad to see the plane crash in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania," Trump said in a Truth Social post.

"More innocent souls were lost. Our people are fully engaged," he added.
